Kidango operates a before- and after-school program for children in kindergarten through age 12 at one elementary school in the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District. School-age children who attend this extended day program receive homework assistance and participate in educational enrichment activities that expand on the learning taking place within their classrooms. Kidango teachers work closely with Alum Rock elementary school teachers to ensure that the curriculum, social environments and child/teacher interactions in our programs prepare children to succeed in school. Children in our extended day program also receive a nutritious meal in the morning and healthy snacks in the afternoon.
During the summer, the Kidango school-age program operates from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our summer curriculum is child-focused, created with the children and designed with dedicated themes for each two week period. The various themes are incorporated throughout all components of the curriculum. The children engage in science and math projects, dramatic play, art, literacy and physical education that reflect each theme and build upon the children's interests. The children in our summer program also have the opportunity to go on field trips that are fun and educational to gain a greater understanding of the world and the themes incorporated throughout the weekly curriculum.
